HIAMS gave me more than just training; they gave me a 2-year fully funded scholarship and a chance to change my life when I had no means to chase my dream. The solid foundation I received, both in theory and practical skills, shaped me into the confident and competent sonographer I am today. With the knowledge I gained, I now serve as a lifeline for the most vulnerable in my community, providing affordable and timely ultrasound services that help save lives and bring hope to families. I’ll always be grateful to HIAMS for believing in me and equipping me to make a real difference.

At HIAMS, every graduate carries a story of growth. My journey from Buea to London reflects the transformative power of HIAMS training. Between 2014 and 2018, I pursued both my Associate Degree and HND in Ultrasonography at HIAMS. The institute gave me not only solid academic training but also leadership, discipline, and confidence. Building on that foundation, I recently completed my BSc in Medical Diagnostic Imaging. Today, I work as a Band 7 Sonographer in Northwest London. My journey included roles in Douala, Foumban, and Kumba, and even as a teaching instructor at HIAMS. Beyond clinical practice, I founded Sonography for Community Development and am an active member of both BMUS and the Cameroon Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Doris’s story demonstrates the global impact of HIAMS graduates. Her journey is a testament that with dedication and a strong foundation, HIAMS graduates can thrive anywhere in the world.

I am proud to be a graduate of HIAMS, Class of 2015, where I earned a BSc in Nursing. The rigorous curriculum laid the foundation for my entire career. After graduation, I pursued a Master’s degree and worked as a nurse educator in Cameroon. My HIAMS transcript was recognized internationally, allowing me to pass the NCLEX in the United States on my first attempt. Later, I relocated to the UK, where I again passed the integration exams without further training. I now serve as a Senior Primary Care Nurse. None of this would have been possible without the solid foundation I received at HIAMS. The institute instilled in me a strong work ethic, clinical competence, and the discipline to thrive in diverse healthcare systems.

My name is Nzeh Valentine Akime. I started my nursing career at HIAMS in 2009. It wasn’t an easy journey for a graduate from the University of Buea in Geology to go back to school for nursing. Studies at HIAMS was a blend of both theory and practice, which laid a solid foundation for me to study hard, work independently, and initiate research. I was empowered to become a leader. I graduated in 2013 with a BNS and today, I hold an MBA in healthcare management, passed the US NCLEX RN Exam, and I am licensed under the Montana Board of Nursing. I am currently in Cameroon, surfing between here and the UAE, and coaching others for the NCLEX exam at the HIAMS campus.
